1st mile down

I did the first mile on the new treadmill tonight. It wasn't too bad, although I wasn't going very fast. I wanna put some time in on it everyday. I had a pretty difficult time getting it in the house and upstairs, but the assembly wasn't nearly the pain that I was expecting it to be. I moved the tv from my office into that room, the exercise room, as it's now called. I think this weekend I'll go pick up a flat screen for the office. Sometimes I like to have the tv on when I'm in here on the computer or doing whatever. I've noticed that I spend more time upstairs when it's hot. Downstairs has all that open space and the really high ceilings. The AC really has to work to keep it cool down there. Up here it gets cool fast. plus the ceiling fans keep the cool air blowing.


I love having an SUV, I can use it for all sorts of things.

Made it to the weekend

The weekend's here, now what? At 9:15 this morning my phone said the temp was 93* and the high for today is going to be 109*. The other shot was for San Diego where the high today is going to be 73*. I know which one sounds better to me. Morg had to come over and see what I was doing and kind of blocked the shot.

It's Hot !

It was back to work today after a 3 day weekend. I was struggling with some work stuff all last week and I wasn't anxious to go back. I'm trying really hard to have a good attitude and remember that I'm in control of how my day goes. The weekend was good. I got to spend some time with the Brown's. Bella and the boys are growing fast. Bella showed me how she is getting better at swimming, and how she can whistle now. The boys are a lot more alert and stay awake for much longer stretches. I got to feed Colton his dinner last night. I talked to Em and she filled me in on what Kye and Brody have been up to. Hopefully I can get together with those guys soon.

I went to the Apple store and got the new iPhone. I already had the iPod touch so I got the new phone loaded up with all my music and all that stuff. I'm still working on entering all my contacts from the address book, I have to enter each one individually. The Apple store in New York is so cool, I had to grab that photo too. I have a couple of photos that I took of the NYC store myself but it's late and I'd have to go downstairs and get them off the laptop blah blah blah. This one looks way better anyway.

I haven't done a blog entry in a while so I thought I would do a quick one tonight. Last weekend the family all came to support Ryan and Sochilt because the 3 babies were blessed in church. It was good to see and spend time with everyone. I had fun going to see Up in 3-D, we played miniature golf one night, had a nice big meal with everyone at Ryan's house on Sunday. It's rare and can be pretty stressful to be with both parents and their spouses all at the same time. The lunch party was went great though. Rob and Brandy stayed at my house with me. Mindy stayed over 2 nights, and Malakye even stayed over 1 night. Mom came out to help with the triplets like a week before. I really enjoyed getting to spend some quality time with her. Whether it was going out to dinner at one of our favorite spots, or the 70 mile car ride out to Em's house, I enjoyed spending that time with my Mama.

Today was my flex day. I went shopping around for a new treadmill. I found one I like but it's big. It comes in a box and I wasn't sure if it would fit in the Xterra. I'm going to see if I can get someone to help me pick it up, get it home and upstairs.

While I was out today I also got a big-boy-burrito from Chipotle and went and saw The Land of the Lost movie. It was kind of silly but it was ok. I used to really like the old tv show. I still like Sleestacks.

Made it back home

Sunday morning we noticed a crowd of people waiting to get into this cafe for breakfast. This morning we walked over and checked it out. It's called Cafe Joie, it's French. I want to remember it because it was a pretty cool place and I want to go back. After breakfast we walked on Mission Beach, the sun was out today and it felt really nice. Before we left we had to say goodbye to the 2 sea loins that were part of a rescue program and now live at the resort.

The drive home was kind of fun, we stopped a few times and weren't in a really big hurry. On the California side of Yuma we stopped at the Imperial Sand Dunes. We got out of the truck for a few minutes but it was really hot. On the way the other day the dunes were spotted with tons of ATV's and dune buggies. There were also lots of motor homes but today we didn't see anyone other than the Border Patrol trucks out there. Closed during the week maybe?

We also stopped at another place that we noticed on the drive over. It's Felicity California. It was kind of a weird experience. I don't even know how to explain it, we were saying after we were kicked out that we had just been to the Twilight Zone. I tried to look up Felicity online just now and am still a little confused about what it is. I didn't spent too much time on the website because I wanted to do this quick blog entry tonight. There's a spiral staircase, a pyramid, a church on the hill, and a couple dozen long granite slabs with engravings. We were walking around and looking at some of the engravings and were heading towards the church. There were a few cars around but we didn't see anyone. That was until this lady started yelling at us. We were pretty far away and she was shouting for us to come back and saying we can't just wander aimlessly. As we were walking to her she kept shouting at us. When we got up to her she asked for us to come inside and start the tour with a video. We said we didn't want to take a tour because of time, we had to get going. She was really unpleasant. She said it will only take 20 minutes, and we said no thanks we're just going to go. Every time we started to take a few steps to go back to truck she would say things like "what did you know about Felicity before now?", I said nothing, then she said "ok so what do you know about Felicity now?" I said again, nothing. She said "well, you took the time to pull off the highway, and took the time to walk all the way up there, and he took the time to take a few snapshot photos but you don't have the time to actually learn something?" This lady was really agitated. She said "If you don't want to learn anything you might as well leave, because looking at things and not having any idea what it is, is pretty foolish. My friend asked her what the problem was and said that if people were required to take a tour then we're sorry and didn't know. She told the lady that we didn't see any signs or an office building. The lady didn't say anything at first but as soon as we started to walk away, she started shouting about how a tour is not required, but if this is the first visit we should try to learn about it and not just wander aimlessly about. We kept walking, she even said "it's too hot out here for all of this". We got back in the truck and were like let's get the heck out of here. It felt really strange for me, I don't get in arguments with people. Not that this was an argument but it just felt really weird. Oh, at one point my friend also told the lady that she didn't need to be scolding us like we we're 12 yr old kids. The lady said "well when I looked out and saw you all the way up there looking around aimlessly (she said that about 5 times) I don't know if you are kids, that's why I had to make you come back here and ask if this is your 1st visit to Felicity" It was a Twilight Zone moment. We had some fun joking around about it afterwards, we wondered what we would do if we came home and weren't able find any records of this town on the Internet. Birthday Weekend

Em drove 70 miles one way to bring me cupcakes. How sweet is she?

San Diego

The resort we are staying at is called The Bahia Resort, it's on Mission Bay and only a 5 minute walk to Mission Beach. The high temps for yesterday and today were 65*. Last night we went for a night cruise on an old timey river boat, it was so cold. Neither of us are ready to go back to the Phoenix heat though.

La Jolla is so beautiful.


Coronado Island and Mount Soledad. I don't think I have ever gone over to Coronado. I really liked it, we spent a long time walking the streets near the Hotel Del Coronado.

Last night we went to the Dbacks game. Our seats were in the lower level along the 3rd base line. It was pretty fun.

Rainy Saturday

The plan for today was to get Ryan and Bella and go meet up with Em and them at a park in Tempe to play and hide Easter eggs. The rain messed up that plan for us. We still wanted to get together and do something so I met them for lunch at the Mongolian BBQ place in Tempe. Em took me there for the first time like 7 or 8 years ago and I have loved it ever since. It's so fun to load up the bowl with all the meat, veggies, and noodles you want. There's also all kinds of ingredients to mix up a sauce to go in the bowl with the food. When you've got it the way you want it they cook it up for you.
